My Volunteer Work at Baba Temple By Chahnita A, 5th Grade, Boston, MA
Updated: Jan 22, 2020
Every Tuesday my dad and I volunteer at Shirdi Sai Baba temple for about 2-4 hours. It is located in Groton, Massachusetts. I am only 10 years old but they said I could work on my dad’s account so it would be fine.
I volunteer there for a noble cause, experience and also for fun. It is very entertaining. It helps me learn more things as well. We help devotees answer their questions and also help them buy items at NESSP shop. It stands for New England Shirdi Sai Parivaar shop. There are items like idols of Sai Baba, boards, and jewelry. Devotees mostly buy a box that has the words faith and patience, and also has Sai Baba in the middle. The shop gives Sai Baba photos every day for free.
Advantages for working at Shirdi Sai Baba temple is that you can get coupons for food if you work for 4 hours. It’s like a reward for your work. It is also like a thing where you can work up to it. It takes a lot of hard work. Many volunteers are full time workers and have been there for more than 5 years. I am just a starter because I have only been working for 1 year. There is a website if you want to join as a volunteer.
