1000 earth orbits by SR0

The inaugural mission of Space Rickshaw, SR0, was launched on August 16, 2024, using ISRO’s SSLV-D3 launcher. After spending close to three months in space, the mission successfully achieved all its goals.

AVS academy students set up a payload to measure radiation and established two ground stations, one in Virginia and the other in Texas. The students found the learning experience highly enjoyable, as it encompassed various STEM concepts, engineering, and mechanics. Prior to configuring the payload, the educational journey involved understanding different types of satellites, as well as orbital mechanics.

On October 29th, the mission completed its 1000th orbital rotation, with the following statistics:

·        Completed 1,000 Earth orbits ✅

·        Traveled 48 million kilometers 🛰️

·        Sent 16.2k signal packets 📡

Key Monitored Data:

  • Bus Voltage: Indicates the battery voltage, with a maximum of 4.2V and a minimum of 3.2V.

  • Bus Current: Shows the power flow direction. A negative current indicates power drawn from the battery, while a positive current means the battery is being charged. The nominal current consumption is -60mA. Solar panels power the spacecraft when the battery is fully charged.

  • Battery Capacity:

  • Maximum Capacity: Reflects the battery health by showing the maximum charge it can hold. Due to a known issue, this data is not being considered for this mission.

  • Remaining Capacity: Displays the current remaining power in the battery, measured in mAh. The maximum capacity is 3200mAh, and anything below 1500mAh is considered unsafe.

  • Temperature Data: Collected from various locations, including the battery, onboard computer (OBC), exterior, solar panel, and base plate. The dashboard illustrates temperature fluctuations during different satellite operation phases.

  • Radiation Data: Collected every minute by our developed sensor, with the full data packet downlinked every 25 seconds.

The next steps involve creating a LLM by analyzing the data received in 16,000 packets of telemetric data and developing a mobile interface.
