AVS Academy summer workshops

The AVS Academy summer workshops commenced with commendable participation from all students. Our objective is to examine ten current innovations in medicine, engineering, space, and technology, and to provide in-depth analysis of how these forward-looking developments are shaping their respective fields.

1.      Artificial Gen Intelligence

2.      Polyfunctional Robots

3.      AI & economics

4.      Quantum Medicine

5.      Artificial Super Intelligence

6.      Spatial Computing

7.      Space Innovation

8.      Space Innovation & AI

9.      Experimental Drones

10.  Space Communication

11.  AGI & Medical Innovation

12.  Quantum Computing

During the first week, five workshops were held. The following notes document three of those workshop sessions.

06/30/2025: Quantum Security

I presented quantum security to AVS Academy students as part of the AVS Summer Workshops. I introduced basic quantum computing topics, such as qubits and their potential to transform current problem-solving algorithms. I explained the connections between mathematics and quantum security to help students better understand the role math plays in this emerging field. I also explained how light photons are used in data transmission and how this will change with the introduction of quantum communication methods. Ultimately, I highlighted the significance of quantum security and emphasized the importance and urgency of further research in this field. Aarush is interested in continuing to learn about this topic – Nitin R

7/1/2025: Quantum Computing

In today’s meeting, we covered the basics of quantum computing. We started out by discussing the Schrödinger’s Cat theory and went further into the the process in which quantum computing works, how it differs from classical computers, and how it can revolutionize future tasks. We then discussed various applications of quantum computing in different fields including drug development, traffic optimization, and weather prediction. After learning the basics, we looked into the process of accessing a quantum computer through Amazon Braket. In future workshop meetings, we plan to allow students to create an Amazon Braket account themselves and access a quantum computer with a certain number of qubits. We can then look into allowing the quantum computer to carry out certain tasks. We plan to work with the Quantum Medicine team for future endeavors – Sriya G

7/2/2025: Space Innovation

Today we talked about what problems Space Debris is causing and our future plans for the project. The 1st phase is to learn basic python and foundational math/physics skills. The 2nd phase is to understand and plot satellite data using libraries from Python. The 3rd phase is to use distance calculations and basic python code for collision detection logic and make a dataset of satellite pairs and their collision risk. The 4th phase is to build an AI model using the scikit-learn library in python that can tell if and when a collision will happen with the dataset we previously created. The final phase is to build an app that can hold our AI and be released to the public to use. We estimated the entire process to take around 15 weeks - Pranav P
