Summer Workshops: Quantum Medicine & Artificial Super Intelligence

Artificial Supper Intelligence

Arvin delivered a fantabulous presentation on Artificial Super Intelligence, covering topics including Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI). He discussed their respective capabilities, potential pathways for the development of ASI, anticipated timelines, associated risks and benefits, as well as key ethical considerations.

During the discussion, Arvin was asked why expert opinions differ significantly regarding when ASI might emerge. He explained that this variation stems from differing perspectives on the current pace of AI progress and the fact that ANI does not yet demonstrate abstract thinking. Another question addressed the rationale for pursuing ASI despite significant risks; he responded that many see the potential benefits as substantial enough to warrant continued development, believing these can outweigh the dangers.

Moving forward, this group will coordinate further and identify a research topic. Arvin recommends focusing on strategies for mitigating the risks associated with ASI, as this is a critical issue with potentially far-reaching consequences.

Quantum medicine

Vibia delivered a presentation on Quantum Medicine, commencing with an overview of Quantum Computing and its three fundamental principles—superposition, entanglement, and interference—which facilitate more rapid and accurate simulations.

She proceeded to introduce Quantum Medicine as a discipline that utilizes these concepts to enhance understanding and treatment of diseases at the atomic level.

Vibia provided a historical perspective on the evolution of Quantum Medicine, highlighting significant milestones such as the development of MRI and PET scan technologies. The group also examined current applications, including quantum imaging, quantum dots, and quantum sensors. Vibia concluded by addressing prospective advancements, particularly the integration of quantum technologies with artificial intelligence.

Additionally, she briefly discussed various subcategories within the field, such as quantum physics, quantum chemistry, and quantum healing. The next step is to form a focus group and further explore this topic and brainstorm a innovative project ideas.
